Hello, I am Emily...

As well as being a qualified Counsellor, I live in a neuro-diverse household (including myself). I have a lot of knowledge and experience in this field. My approach to my sessions is a relaxed and caring style, which in turn aims to support you, the client, in understanding your thoughts and feelings. Hopefully helping you to develop a set of tools to enhance your quality of life and self-worth, allowing you to deal with future events, and giving you better insight. I am an avid advocate of emotional and psychological well being.

My core approach to therapy is person-centred. This style of counselling is relaxed and puts you, the client, at the heart of the process and lets you set your own speed. This allows you to feel more at ease by setting it at a pace you are comfortable with. The therapeutic relationship is based on confidentiality and mutual respect in the sessions. I will provide you with a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental space to explore difficult beliefs that may, at times, be extremely painful.

The emphasis of our work is to provide a safe space, allowing you to talk about all issues, be they historical or current, which may be affecting the way in which you carry out your everyday lives. This may cause stress, anxiety and fixed patterns of thought. Having counselling can enable you to make small changes and for these changes to build into positive changes, allowing for progression.

To make the first step contact myself via email, phone or text. We can then set up an initial session, where we can discuss what you would like to get from counselling. If after the initial appointment you wish to continue we can book further appointments. Working together at a pace/time that will work for yourself.

I will work at the pace of clients and with what you bring to the sessions. I have experience in mental health, working in childcare settings and children’s homes, this includes the managing and running of both settings.

I also have experience working for charitable organisations, private practice and I work with a series of issues including bullying, bereavement, confidence, depression, self-esteem and relationship difficulties.

I am registered with the NCS (National Counselling Society) and abide by their ethical framework for good practise in psychotherapy and counselling professions. I am committed to furthering my professional development.
